Sculpture I

Sculpture I is a studio course designed to introduce the materials, concepts, processes, and evaluation of sculpture within the contemporary setting.  Through a variety of different assignments, students explore materials and techniques common to sculptors such as woodworking, mold making and casting, and metal fabrication.  Students are encouraged to investigate non-traditional materials and unique ways in which to join them.  Of equal importance, this course addresses historical, conceptual, and theoretical aspects of contemporary art as it relates to sculptural practice.
